THE COMPANY
Harbour Link Container Services provide container drayage trucking services for the import/export community through the Port of Vancouver marine terminals. The trucking fleet consists of 130 trucks and over 600 container chassis serving the Greater Vancouver region as well as highway services to points in Western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest including the port cities of Seattle and Tacoma.
In addition to trucking services the company also operates 2 marine container storage facilities in Delta, BC as well as warehouse operations on Tsawwassen First Nations lands (TFN).

CAREER OPPOURTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Safety and Compliance to lead our safety and compliance team. The successful candidate will be an experienced detail oriented and motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, committed to ensuring fleet safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance; MOT (Ministry of Transport), NSC (National Safety Code), DOT (Dept. of Transportation), HOS (Hours of Service), CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration)
  • Oversee driver engagement, provide recruiting assistance, driver training and performance evaluation. Review driver logs and electronic logging devices to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Accident and incident Investigation to ensure proper procedures are followed and documentation is accurately completed and communicated. Perform root cause analysis and develop Safety Policies as needed.
  • Deliver driver orientation and training requirements, hazardous materials certification, pre-trip/post trip inspections, safe vehicle operations, winter driving and hours of service etc.
  • Conduct driver follow-up meetings to review violations, tickets, accidents, injuries, claims, and other incidents, to ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken as well as provide coaching as needed.
  • Support a positive working environment across all departments.
  • Maintain accurate records and organize safety documentation, ensuring accessibility and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to safety department support staff.
  • Other job duties as required. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet safety and transportation compliance at a management level.
  • Experience supervising staff or managing a safety/compliance team.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial transportation regulations, including cross border.
  • Experience working with drivers, owner-operators and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other general software programs.

HOURS AND AVAILABILITY
Regular Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM
Flexible to work additional hours as required to meet operational demands, deadlines and compliance responsibilities.
